Doyle Brunson signs as a WPT ambassador

Doyle Brunson, a 10-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner, has joined the World Poker Tour's roster of ambassadors.

“As WPT’s newest representative,” says an announcement on the official World Poker Tour website, “Brunson will attend WPT events and work alongside online partners in promotional efforts. Under his new ambassadorship, poker players and fans will have opportunities to meet with Doyle throughout the WPT live tournament schedule.”

The World Poker Tour accounts for nearly a third of Doyle Brunson's profits from live tournaments, which total more than $6.1 million. But throughout the years in high-stakes cash games, he has made countless millions more.

“Doyle has been a part of the World Poker Tour from the very beginning,” said Adam Pliska, World Poker Tour CEO. “I was there for his WPT Legends of Poker victory in 2004 when he joined the WPT Champions Club, and to also be here to welcome him to the WPT family after all this time feels surreal.”

Since the start of Season XX, a number of WPT ambassadors have been hired, including DJ Steve Aoki, poker YouTubers Brad Owen and Andrew Neeme, and Brunson.

Although he no longer participates frequently in poker tournaments, he is still a regular at cash games in Las Vegas, where he has lived for a long time. In 2021, Brunson made an appearance at the WSOP after having retired from tournament poker. He intends to compete in the WSOP Main Event in 2022.

“I’ve said this many times before, but it bears repeating: we don’t stop playing because we get old; we get old because we stop playing,” Brunson said.
