MoMoMo PKO series Cancelled, $ 5 Million Venom PKO tournament remains

MoMoMo PKO (Progressive Knock Out) online poker tournament is cancelled, as announced on Americas Cardroom official blog in their website. According to them, the cancellation happened because of lower than expected performance and excessive unsusteinable overlays. $ 5 Million Venom PKO tournament and $ 1 Million GTD Sunday tourneys are still on, though.

Americas Cardroom has recently announced in their website and Twitter account that their MoMoMo PKO series had to come to an early close. Their explanation for this is that the series' performance is way above what was expected and that the massive overlays they are having are no longer sustainable. They added that "over the past decade, no other poker site has pushed the envelope as much as we have" (...) "but with the MOMOMO PKO series, we decided to go too big, too soon", arguing that this philosophy helped them grow in popularity but this tournament was a too ambitious project for the moment and that they regret for the players who were enjoying the MOMOMO PKO so far, but they expect to go with it 100% in a near future.

$ 1 Million GTD Sunday and $ 5 Million Venom PKO remain

The operator also added that they are maintaining the $ 1 million GTD events scheduled, their very popular $ 1 Million GTD Sunday the first one being tomorrow (Oct 4th) and the other two on Oct 11th and Oct 18th. Also their Main Event, the $ 5 Million Venom PKO tournament (Day 1A on October 23rd), is also to go forward. The announcement was made in an honest, transparent tone, which is itself deserving of attention and praise and has received a lot of positive comments from the users, despite the bad news, recognizing the merits of this decision from a business perspective.
