Since the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) started awarding licenses in 2018, legalizing online poker and gambling in the state, a few operators entered the market and started running their slot and casino games, but no poker at the beginning. Later on 2019, Nov 4, Poker Stars soft-launched the first online poker games in the state and received PGCB's green light for a full launch on Nov 6. Ever since, Poker Stars has been the sole operator hosting online poker tables in Pennsylvania.

So far, there has been a lot of action for local players, as well as many tournaments and events, including a special anniversary event next week. Numbers have been growing, as well as the company's revenue, although not in a stable or very impressive way, totaling around $ 32.7 million from the soft launch up until now. Does it have the potential to attract other operators to the market that will try to have a slice of that pie for themselves? Currently, there are no known plans to do so, most big names in the industry have not announced anything regarding online poker in Pennsylvania. But the soil seems fertile for new competitors to show up and we will keep you informed as soon as anything concrete appears on the horizon.
