GGPoker is introducing stricter security rules following the Mesh Agent Trojan incident, banning third-party poker software while its client is running and adding new tools to detect suspicious activity.
Under the new policy, players cannot run third-party poker software or automation tools alongside the GGPoker client. Previously permitted applications are now included in the restriction, even if they are not directly involved in making poker decisions.
The prohibited software list includes PokerTracker 4, Hand2Note, Holdem Manager 3, DriveHUD 2, Jurojin, StarsCaption, Equilab, Intuitive Tables, Lobbyze, and AutoHotkey. GGPoker emphasizes that the list is not exhaustive and that other applications may also fall under the ban.
Players must completely close prohibited programs before launching GGPoker. Disabling a HUD or stopping hand-history imports is insufficient if the application remains active in the background.
Some tools will remain permitted. Operating-system-level window management applications, such as Microsoft PowerToys and Rectangle, are exempt, as are standalone random number generators.
GGPoker is introducing a dedicated Security section in its client settings, featuring several tools designed to identify potential threats. These features operate while the client is open and are optional.
Screen Guard is designed to prevent poker tables and hole cards from being captured by screenshots, recording, streaming, and remote-viewing software. An additional setting, Protect the Whole Client, extends the protection to the lobby, cashier, and account pages.
Connection Monitor tracks potentially suspicious network connections and alerts players to possible threats, including certain remote-control applications and proxy services.
Process Check allows players to create an allowlist of trusted applications, helping prevent legitimate software from triggering security alerts.
DNS Check examines network settings for signs of DNS spoofing, an attack that can redirect traffic to malicious servers or fraudulent websites.
GGPoker stresses that these features are not replacements for antivirus software and do not protect the entire computer. Players should continue updating their operating systems, reviewing installed applications, and maintaining appropriate security protections.
The operator has also reported tracing cryptocurrency transfers associated with the Mesh Agent incident. GGPoker identified a wallet linked to the funds and shared information with Coinbase, industry organizations tracking illicit financial activity, and law enforcement.
Another major change is Win-Rate Anomaly Detection (WAD), a system designed to identify potentially suspicious gameplay by analyzing decisions against opponents' actual hole cards.
The system evaluates whether a player's decisions appear unusually accurate given the information that would normally be available at the table. Results that significantly exceed expected patterns may be flagged for further investigation.
This mechanism supplements existing measures targeting collusion, account sharing, bots, and real-time assistance tools.
However, GGPoker makes an important distinction: an unusually high win rate does not automatically establish a violation. Findings from WAD will be evaluated alongside other evidence and existing game-integrity checks.
GGPoker also plans to discontinue support for Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, macOS 11 Big Sur, and earlier macOS versions in 2027.
Players using these systems are advised to upgrade to at least Windows 10 or macOS 12 Monterey before the change takes effect. Older operating systems may no longer receive adequate security updates, potentially exposing users to known vulnerabilities.
Players should check their current system version and plan any necessary upgrades ahead of the deadline.
GGPoker has established a transition period to give players time to adapt to the new restrictions.
Until November 30, the operator says it will not issue automatic warnings or penalties for running prohibited software, including table-management tools.
Starting December 1, the security system will continuously monitor third-party tools running alongside the client. Players who trigger a detection will receive an in-client warning and must completely close the prohibited application, including any background processes.
