GVC Holdings, the poker giant behind household names such as Partypoker and Bwin, has announced a rebranding and changing its name to Entain plc, effective next month (Dec 2020). According to a statement in a press release, this decision was justified as to "reflect the Group's ambition to be the world-leader in sports betting and gaming entertainment.". This is all part of a new strategy for "sustainability, growth and innovation", also according to the company.

Another part of this new strategy is following through with an already ongoing move by GVC of withdrawing from unregulated markets. They have already been withdrawing from certain countries such as China and other Asian markets since 2019 and next in line could be countries such as Norway, Poland, Venezuela and Germany. The company has declared its commitment to "by the end of 2023, 100% of the Group’s revenue will come from markets that are nationally regulated. In addition, by the end of 2020, 99% will come from regulated and regulating markets".
