Phenom Poker Moves to CHIP

Phenom Poker has completed a major infrastructure upgrade, introducing CHIP, a new in-game currency designed to make deposits, withdrawals and everyday poker play simpler.

The biggest change is happening behind the scenes. Phenom has moved its gaming infrastructure fully to the Base network, bringing gameplay, staking and withdrawals together under one wallet instead of the previous Polygon-and-Base setup.

For players, that should mean fewer blockchain-related headaches and a smoother experience when moving money in and out of the poker room.

What Is CHIP?

CHIP is an ERC-20 token operating on Base and is designed specifically for playing poker on Phenom.

Each CHIP is backed 1:1 by the US dollar, while the reserve can be independently verified. When players deposit supported stablecoins, Phenom automatically issues the corresponding amount of CHIP to their wallet.

The process is similar to exchanging money for chips at a traditional casino: deposit funds, receive gaming chips, play, and then convert the balance back when withdrawing.

The important part is that players no longer need to manually handle the token conversion themselves.

CHIP changes the setup by putting everything on Base.

Players now have one wallet for gaming, staking and withdrawals, with one blockchain network instead of Polygon plus Base. There is no need to manually transfer funds between networks before withdrawing, and Phenom covers gas fees.

The upgrade also improves the speed of certain transactions. Cash-game auto top-ups and tournament registrations are now processed almost instantly, with virtually no delays.

The practical benefit is straightforward: players can spend less time thinking about blockchain infrastructure and more time playing poker.

CHIP and PHNM Serve Different Purposes

The introduction of CHIP does not replace Phenom's existing PHNM token.

The two assets now have clearly separated roles within the ecosystem.

CHIP is the gaming currency. It is used for poker balances and transactions inside Phenom.

PHNM remains the ecosystem and staking token, providing additional benefits to holders and continuing to serve its role within Phenom's broader token economy.

That distinction is important because CHIP isn't intended to compete with or replace PHNM. Instead, Phenom is using two different tokens for two different purposes.

What Comes Next for Phenom Poker?

The infrastructure upgrade could also pave the way for several new features.

Phenom has outlined a number of developments it wants to build on top of the new system, including more deposit methods, jackpots, new poker game formats, PHNM lending and Phenom's first tournament series.

That last point could be particularly interesting for poker players. Phenom has primarily been developing its crypto-poker ecosystem, and a dedicated tournament series would give the room another way to attract regular MTT players.

A Simpler Entry Point Into Crypto Poker

The biggest takeaway from the CHIP transition isn't really the token itself. It's the simplification of Phenom's infrastructure.

Previously, players could encounter friction because gaming and staking operated across different networks. Now, Phenom has consolidated the system around Base and a single wallet, while also taking care of gas fees.

For existing Phenom players, that should make deposits, withdrawals and bankroll management more straightforward.

For players who have been curious about crypto poker but don't want to deal with multiple networks and manual token transfers, the new setup could also lower the barrier to entry.

With CHIP now live and several additional features planned, Phenom Poker is positioning its new infrastructure as the foundation for the next stage of its development.
