Phenom Poker PSOP Smashes Guarantees

Running from October 23 through November 15, the series features 92 events and more than $1 million in combined guarantees and prizes. During the first two days alone, Phenom awarded more than $185,000 across the opening nine events, with every tournament reportedly reaching at least twice its guarantee.

Several tournaments generated prize pools four or five times larger than their original guarantees, providing an impressive opening for a series built around variety and mixed-game competition.

Phenom Poker Events Deliver Major Overlays in Reverse

The opening results show strong participation across a wide range of poker formats, from Pot-Limit Omaha to less common mixed games.

The $50 PLO Kickoff attracted 274 entries and generated a $12,741 prize pool against a $2,500 guarantee. The $200 8-Game Mix reached $25,326 against $7,500 guaranteed, while the $200 Big Bet Championship produced $28,350 from a $5,000 guarantee.

Higher buy-in events also exceeded expectations. The $500 2-7 Triple Draw Championship drew 88 entries for a $41,580 prize pool, more than double its $20,000 guarantee. The $500 Omaha or Better Championship generated $39,690 against a $10,000 guarantee.

Other notable results included the $100 PLO5 PKO, which awarded $15,309 against $4,000 guaranteed, and the $50 NLH 6-Max PKO, which reached $10,137 against a $2,000 guarantee.

These early figures suggest that the PSOP is attracting players across multiple formats rather than relying exclusively on traditional No-Limit Hold’em tournaments.

WSOP Paradise Packages Add More Incentive

Beyond individual tournament prizes, the PSOP features two leaderboards offering packages to WSOP Paradise.

The main PSOP leaderboard awards a $16,000 package to the series champion. The package includes entry into the $10,000 8-Game Mix bracelet event, giving mixed-game specialists a major live tournament opportunity.

Early leaderboard contenders include American player Cal, who won the $200 Super Triple Draw Mix and $50 NLH 6-Max events. Online mixed-game regular Mikhail “FAL1st” Yakovlev is also in contention after winning the $500 PLO Championship and $1,000 H.E.R.O.S. Masters.

Poker Hall of Famer Brian Rast has made several deep runs, including a runner-up finish in the PLO Championship, keeping him in the race as the series progresses.

The PSOP Rally offers a second route to WSOP Paradise. Its leading player receives a $6,500 package that includes entry into the $2,750 Circuit Championship. Early contenders include king153246, Phenom Team Pro Huck Seed and Yakovlev, with Rast, Viktor “Isildur1” Blom and Scott “Pokerbrahs” Kenyon also among the players in contention.

A Series Built Around Mixed Games

One of the PSOP’s defining features is its focus on poker variants beyond the standard Hold’em and PLO formats. Phenom Poker offers more than 30 variants, giving players opportunities to compete in games that receive less attention on many online poker platforms.

The series schedule includes formats such as 2-7 Triple Draw, Stud Hi-Lo, H.E.R.O.S., Big Bet and multi-game mixes. Monday’s A-5 Triple Draw event, for example, attracted 190 entries, further demonstrating the appetite for alternative formats.

The series will conclude with a 9-Game Mix High Roller rather than a conventional No-Limit Hold’em Main Event, reinforcing its identity as a destination for mixed-game players.

With more than two weeks of tournaments remaining after the initial run of events, players still have opportunities to join the action and compete for individual prizes and leaderboard rewards.
