Across the promotion, GGPoker will host 83 Pick & Go tournaments with a combined $440,000 in guaranteed prize pools, giving players a completely different way to experience both poker and football throughout the summer.
Pick & Go is one of GGPoker's most creative tournament formats.
Each tournament is linked to a specific World Cup match. Before registering, players must choose one of the two national teams involved in that match. Once the tournament begins, players compete in a regular poker tournament while simultaneously cheering for their chosen team on the football field.
The twist comes when the match ends.
Players who selected the winning team continue in the tournament as normal, while everyone who backed the losing side is automatically eliminated, regardless of their chip stack.
If the match ends in a draw after regulation time, no players are eliminated and the tournament continues normally.
The result is a format that combines poker strategy, football knowledge, and a bit of luck into a single event.
Another unique feature of Pick & Go is its flexible buy-in structure.
Unlike traditional tournaments where every player pays the same entry fee, Pick & Go adjusts buy-ins according to the betting odds of each team.
The underdog team receives a discounted buy-in, while players choosing the favorite pay more to enter.
For most tournaments, the standard buy-in is around $10, while semifinal and final events carry a standard $50 entry fee. Depending on the odds, however, players backing the underdog may gain access at a significantly reduced cost.
This creates an interesting strategic decision. Players can choose the safer football option and pay more, or take a gamble on the underdog in exchange for a cheaper entry.
The action does not stop if things go wrong early.
Players eliminated during the football match can immediately re-enter the tournament and even switch to the opposite team. Because the football odds change in real time, the discounted buy-in can also fluctuate throughout the match.
Even players who survive the poker portion of the tournament but back the losing football team are given another opportunity. After the match concludes, eliminated players can re-enter for the standard buy-in until late registration closes.
This structure keeps players involved longer and creates additional strategic choices throughout the event.
Every Pick & Go tournament starts with a stack of 10,000 chips, equivalent to 100 big blinds.
Blind levels increase every 10 minutes, creating a steady pace of action without becoming a turbo format. Late registration remains open for 13 levels, allowing players to enter or re-enter for more than two hours after the tournament begins.
Events are played eight-handed, with a traditional nine-handed final table.
Poker operators are constantly searching for new formats that stand out from standard multi-table tournaments, and Pick & Go is one of the most original concepts currently available.
By linking poker results to real World Cup matches, GGPoker has created a format where football fans and poker players can sweat two competitions at the same time.
With 83 tournaments and $440,000 in guarantees scheduled throughout the World Cup, Pick & Go offers a fun alternative to traditional MTTs and a fresh way to enjoy one of the biggest sporting events on the planet.
Players can find all Pick & Go events directly in the GGPoker lobby by searching for "Pick & Go."
