ACR Poker has introduced ScreenShield, an additional security feature designed to protect sensitive poker table information from certain screen-capture and screen-sharing methods.

The announcement comes amid renewed industry scrutiny over superuser risks and the measures poker operators can take to protect their games.
ScreenShield is designed to keep protected table information, including hole cards, from being captured or shared through the external methods covered by the technology.
When enabled, players can continue viewing and using their ACR Poker tables normally. The protection operates in the background, blocking covered screen-capture and screen-sharing methods from reproducing sensitive information.
WPN CEO Phil Nagy described the feature as an additional layer of protection rather than a complete solution to every possible security threat.
That distinction matters. ScreenShield can help limit certain ways information is exposed, but it does not replace investigations into suspicious gameplay, account activity or prohibited software use.
WPN began contacting certain players on September 29 after its detection systems identified devices meeting criteria associated with remote-access or screen-control software. ScreenShield was enabled for those accounts as an additional precaution.
However, having remote-access software installed does not automatically indicate cheating or a compromised computer. These tools also serve legitimate purposes, including technical support, workplace collaboration, streaming and remote computer access.
WPN stated that its review found no compromise of its own systems, poker software or official downloads. Its Game Integrity team continues to investigate relevant player and account activity.
According to the network, any compensation for players who suffered losses because of established wrongdoing will depend on the findings of those investigations.
ScreenShield is not automatically enabled for every WPN account. Because screen recording, streaming and sharing tools have legitimate uses within the poker community, applying the restriction universally could interfere with activities that players rely on.
Instead, WPN plans to continue scanning for relevant software and activating ScreenShield more proactively when its detection criteria are met.
Players do not need to wait to be selected. Any WPN player can request activation by contacting support@winningpokernetwork.com. The process may take up to 48 hours.
Players who need screen-sharing, recording or streaming functionality for legitimate purposes can also discuss their requirements with Support.
WPN is working on a future option that would allow players to enable or disable ScreenShield directly through the poker client. That functionality is not yet available.
