Alex Botez Wins $250,000 in ClubWPT

The eight-player event featured a $500,000 prize pool and a unique heads-up format, with Botez defeating three opponents on her way to the title. The victory represents the largest recorded tournament score of her poker career.

Botez Wins Poker Champs Heads-Up Event

Botez began her run on September 24 by defeating Eric “Erobb221” Lamont Robbins Jr. in the opening round. The victory guaranteed her at least $50,000 and advanced her to the next stage of the tournament.

Two days later, she returned for the semifinal against streamer PaymoneyWubby. Botez established a significant chip lead during the match before the decisive confrontation.

Botez held K♥3♠ and opened with a min-raise. Wubby reraised by one additional big blind, and Botez called. The K♦10♠4♥ flop gave Botez top pair, and she called a three-big-blind bet.

After the 10♥ appeared on the turn, Wubby bet nine big blinds while leaving four behind. Botez used her timebank before moving all in. Wubby called with two queens, but the 2♦ river did not change the result and Botez secured her place in the final.

A Best-of-Three Final Against Sodapoppin

With $125,000 locked up, Botez faced Thomas Chance Morris, better known online as Sodapoppin, in the best-of-three final.

Botez won the first match after making a jack-high straight and catching Morris bluffing with king-high.

She then built another lead in the second match before the tournament reached its conclusion.

On the final hand, Botez called Morris' all-in with pocket tens on an A♦A♠2♠ board. Morris once again held king-high, and the 6♦ turn and J♣ river completed the board without changing the result.

Botez secured the Poker Champs title and the $250,000 first-place prize.

Another Major Result for Botez

The ClubWPT Gold victory adds to a series of notable poker results for Botez.

She first reached the money in the World Series of Poker Main Event in 2023, finishing 1,040th. That same year, she won a $550 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure side event for $10,815.

At WSOP Paradise in 2024, Botez recorded two additional deep runs, finishing 60th in a $10,000 event and 187th in the $25,000 WSOP Super Main Event. Those results combined for $89,490 in tournament earnings.

Botez has also achieved significant results in cash games. In 2022, she won $456,900 in a memorable Hustler Casino Live session featuring several prominent poker and entertainment figures.

From Chess to Poker and Streaming

Botez's background extends well beyond poker. She became known as a chess player at a young age and holds the Woman FIDE Master title.

Alongside her sister Andrea, she later built a major online audience through streaming. Their content initially focused heavily on chess before expanding into gaming, poker and other forms of entertainment.

Alex Botez's latest tournament victory adds another significant milestone to that career, with the $250,000 Poker Champs result now standing as her largest recorded tournament payday.
