iPoker Network to ban seating scripts on March 2023

No more bumhunting on iPoker Network

The top online poker sites currently have a serious bumhunting issue. Although pros know that choosing the right table is important, it is also thought to have an impact on the ecology and "scare" new players. For this reason, many poker sites have opted to take action against it because of this, and now the iPoker Network decides to do the same.

As of March 1, 2023, cash game participants on the iPoker Network are not permitted to use automated seating scripts. In poker sites that are part of the iPoker Network, like RedStar Poker, the "prohibited software during games" section has already been modified in accordance with:

"Any tool or service that assists in game selection efficacy is commonly known as seating scripts. Examples include but are not limited to Magic Seat/one007."

In general, any program that automates communication with the poker client is forbidden by iPoker. Players have the choice to contact customer support to seek an investigation if they believe someone is utilizing a seating script. One of the possible consequences is the seizing of funds (and redistributing among affected players) and account bans.

Almost all poker networks, including PokerStars, Chico Poker, WPN, and others, have formally outlawed seating scrips in the past. The only enigma here is why iPoker waited so long to make this choice, which was likely impacted by the enormous traffic surge that began in 2022.
