How COVID Has Affected Casinos

1.      Nevada Casinos

Nevada moved from an in-person registration to a drive-thru registration system to facilitate the drop in revenue due to the casino shutdowns. Nevertheless, the casinos are still struggling with revenues. The sports betting apps and return of some sporting events like UFC and golf are still not enough to cater to the year to year drop the casinos have experienced since May.

2.      Macau Casinos

In May, Macau casinos experienced a 93 percent year to year drop, marking the eighth consecutive month that the region’s gambling market has experienced a decline in revenue. Following the visa and massive border restrictions in February to prevent the spread of the virus, Macau casinos were forced to close, which in turn hampered the revenue.

Currently, the world’s largest gambling market is still finding it challenging to overcome the effects of the pandemic. June marked the 9th month the Macau casinos have suffered revenue losses rated at a 97 percent year to year decline. This is the most significant drop in revenue in the history of Macau’s gambling market.

3.      Arizona Casinos

Lone Butte, Wild Horse Pass, Vee Quiva, three of the tribal casinos in Arizona are closed following the infection and death of the former security guard at Lone Butte. The aim is to protect residents in the area against the spread and infection of the COVID virus. Employees continue to get paid in the meantime.

Integrity in Online Poker: PokerStars

Fraud in poker is nothing new, but refunding players that experience fraud is something to revel about. This is precisely what the PokerStars Game integrity team did in 2019 when they refunded $1870000 to some of its players. In the integrity released report, the integrity issues noted included issues of violation, collusion, and botting.

Considerations For Building Your WSOP Schedule

When building your WSOP schedule, start by looking at the lowest buy-in events like Event #1: The Opener with a $100 buy-in but with a $2 million guarantee or Event #40: BIG 50 with a $50 buy-in but with a $1 million guarantee. Then look at the events with the most significant guarantees like Event #17: MILLIONAIRE MAKER with a $5million guarantee. Remember to consider your time zone.
