MPN closure: Press Release

MPN Drops the Curtain! After 17 years of thrilling poker experience, the Microgaming Poker Network finally drops the curtain. As they announced late last year through their Managing Director Alex Scott, the network dissolved all its operations as of 19th May 2020. According to Scott, the company felt the network did not fall in line with their growth strategy for online poker prompting the heartbreaking decision. The closure of MPN has seen its former skins jump ship in a bid to find other hosts while others have even closed shop, exiting the scene with this network.

The Genesis of Problems

MPN's leadership might offer the growth strategy disorientation as their primary reason to call off the game, but several other reasons appear to have contributed to their quitting.

First of all, earlier last year in April, the network parted with their long-term partner, RedKings Poker, after three years of partnership. Another major partner, Unibet, parted with the company back in 2014 in its bid to establish a standalone platform.

The network also had to suspend PKR, another of its troubled partners due to its infamous financial issues. Stiff competition from rival Poker entities could also be to blame for MPN's downfall.

Until its closure, the network was ranked the 19th poker network in the world. This position places it way behind major poker networks and renders it unable to compete on a massive global scale as its rivals.

Players' Fate

Players in most of the former MPN skins will not feel a pinch since they have already transited to new software providers. However, for skins that choose to quit, the players can only look for new rooms.

32Red Quits Poker Vertical

While most of the former MPN skins have joined other networks, 32Red has chosen to exit the scene. The entity, as announced late last year, has opted not to join any other poker operator. However, the entity's former players have a refuge in its sister network Unibet Poker. Both are Kindred Group brands.

Olybet Joins GGPoker Network

Olympic Entertainment Group brand Olybet has sort refuge in the GGPoker network. Players under Olybet will enjoy all offers and features provided by Europe's leading poker platform. As of 30th April, all Olybet markets are now online and accessible on GGPoker. Even better, Olybet players are viable to participate in GGPoker's WSOP Super Circuit Online Series that kicked off on 3rd May and is expected to run until the end of the month on 31st.

Red Star Poker Joins iPoker

Red Star was among the first former MPN skins to announce their plans upon the closure of MPN. The entity has gone on to transit into the rapidly growing Playtech Network brand, iPoker. Their players will comfortably enjoy all features, offers, and promotions iPoker has to offer.

Other iPoker New Rooms

iPoker seems to be the most preferred destination for most of the former MPN rooms. About nine rooms have already transited to iPoker. Betsson's three rooms, Betsafe, Betsson Poker, and Nordic.com Poker, had a significant claim on MPN's player pool and will bring a large share of players into their new network.

CoolBet, Guts.com, PCF Poker, Paf, and Grosvenor are also among the significant rooms to join iPoker. Grosvenor has strong roots in the UK market and will undoubtedly contribute significantly to the iPoker network.

Other MPN Rooms Transiting to GGPoker

The other poker room alleged to possibly transit to GGPoker is the Isle of Man-based 188Bet. This room majorly targets the Asian market with lots of players in Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, and China.

One Time Poker Uncertainty

While most former MPN rooms have already determined and joined a new network, One Time Poker is still a case of uncertainty. The room is yet to establish its next course of action.
